Buying a flat - how long does post completion etc take?

Hi, I’ve just bought a new flat, I’ve had the keys for about 2 weeks now. The other day I emailed the management company of the building to ask if I could get a spare fob cut, however they replied saying they’ve not been informed that I’m a new leaseholder. I have emailed my solicitors but they’re being very slow to respond and I just wondered what the process is now, like is there anything I need to be doing / pushing the solicitors to do besides speaking to the management company? Do they need to do anything with the land registry? I have this terrible anxiety that in a few years I’ll try to sell the flat only to find out something wasn’t done right and it’s not legally mine!

Your solicitor should have sent a notice of change of ownership to the management company as part of their work on the day you completed. Ask them when they sent it.

You can usually just go get a fob copied at a key cutting place etc. I know not your question!

I would ring up the management company to check that they havent received it in the meantime and just javent processed it yet.

If they havent ring up your solicitor and ask why it hasnt been done yet - this is what they are meant to do and what you are paying them for!
