Inconsistent offer information by estate agents

We're a chain free buyer, all finances confirmed and ready, and in rental accommodation.

We've put on a few offers now, all well over asking price. One estate agents told us the offer is purely information about financials, chain information. But one this week, unbeknown to us, also passed on information from some sellers about their personal context and how much they love the house. We were not told that an emotive back story could be passed on with your offer.

The inconsistency is so frustrating and is just open to encouraging us to exaggerate our circumstances. Is this happening everywhere?

I think it’s quite normal to share information about your personal circumstances and why you want to buy the property. Some sellers may not have any interest, but some will. When we bought our house, the vendors later told us that the reason they accepted our offer was because we were a young family with children similar ages to theirs when they bought the property. They said they wanted it to be a family home, not a second home or retirement property.
