How long till dust settles post build?

How long after a build/renovation does it take for the dust to settle and movement / shrinkage to stop?
I need to book the decorators in but I’m wondering whether to wait a bit.

It's a nightmare. The dust hangs around for months. I had a full sparkle clean done and it was still settling a month or so later.

Settlement can take a years but I wouldn't worry too much, you should only have a few cracks appear and these can be easily be painted over.

I would say a full year to find all the cracks. We painted and then got the painter back after 6 months to fill cracks and patch. There’s a few small hairline ones that have appeared since but you have to squint to see them.

Dust settled here after about 4 months. Cracks still appearing 6 months on and so we are planning to retouch paintwork etc.

Dust still settling after 5 months. Cracks still appearing....

Hi thanks for the replies. Sounds like I may as well go ahead with the decorating soonish but plan for a touch up later. Worried about new carpets due to the dust but will factor in a carpet clean as well 😀
