Outside wall of neighbour’s extension

Our neighbours have an extension at the back of their house, the outside wall faces the side of our patio. (We’re semi-detached).

would we be ok putting trellis or something up on it to grow vines up? We don’t really know them and don’t want them to feel awkward if they want to say no, so just wanted to find out if it would be a goer..?

officially, you can't drill into their wall without their permission. so you could put trellis in front with your own supports or you could ask them.

some plants like Ivy or climbing hydrangea can grow up a brick wall without a trellis too ...

Do not grow vines or ivy up their house it can cause a lot of damage to brickwork. You need to ask for permission to attach trellises or grow anything on their property and if I were them I would say definitely no.

Definitely don't grow vines up their house! They grow rampant and out of control in no time and leave nasty mess when removed.

You cant fasten trellis to their brickwork either.

What about mobile trellis such as this

Would sugru hold it?
