Paint recommendation for halls and ceilings (on the 'white', spectrum!)

Just had 11 ceilings and our hallway walls replastered so have a lot of painting on our hands 😅 To my DH white is white so he doesn't really get that there's different hues and ranges on the white spectrum. Our budget isn't huge (ie no Farrow and Ball sadly). For the ceilings I'm wondering do most people just go with a "trade brilliant white" sort of thing? As for the walls... while I don't like yellow-y whites I also worry that green/jasmine whites might look a bit clinical. Any paint recommendations for walls/ceilings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all 😊

We used deluxe clotted cream on walls, north facing. It’s a non yellow cream. And jasmine on ceilings.

Pure brilliant white on ceiling, valspar magic touch on walls

Loads of people recommend Dulux Timeless for a beautiful white. I'm poised to do my hallway in a couple of weeks, so will be trying it out then!

We use pure brilliant white on normal ceilings but have used Dulux Morning Light in our hall and small bedroom. They both have hip roofs so the ceilings have to be the same colour as the walls (unless you’re a professional, in which case crack on).

We’ve also used Dulux Timeless in one room with a PBW ceiling and that looked fine. I would certainly use it elsewhere.

I find Timeless to be quite yellow, almost magnolia, rather than white. We have Dulux Cotton White in our hall and landing - that is a matt chalky white, and Dulux Jasmine White in other rooms which is the mearest hint of off-white. Our ceilings are pure brilliant white and I think they look fine.

If you like farrow and ball, choose their colours then go to b and q and get them to colour mix their valspar brand to match it.

We've just done ours in timeless. Was a bit worried by the tester which looked a bit creamy, but now that it's all done I love it. Only very slightly different to the pure white ceilings and skirtings, but without the sharpness of pure white. Love it.

Wimborne White is my go-to. It's a soft white but not cream. I colour match it at B&Q. That said, I find it almost indistinguishable from Timeless, which I also like, but find WW just a tad more uplifting.

Coming here to recommend Dulux Timeless!

Use it on the ceilings too: makes everything look bigger and it’s less jarring than suddenly switching to a different white. Cheaper too as you don’t need to buy different colours of white and end up with leftovers.

As I have just talked about this on another thread can I recommend that to paint your newly plastered wall you used Leyland Contract matt paint made especially for this purpose? No need to dilute it just paint it straight onto the walls and ceilings.

www.screwfix.com/p/leyland-trade-contract-matt-emulsion-paint-brilliant-white-10ltr/33680

Screwfix also do their own version of it, again 900+ reviews. It gives incredible coverage for bare plaster.

I also agree that if you can paint both the ceiling and walls in the same white, makes for a much easier life.

We've recently had all our ceilings skimmed and are using Dulux Trade Brilliant White.

Our favoured neutral is F&B Skimming Stone (or the Johnston's colour match) but that may be too beige for you?

Another vote for Dulux Trade Brilliant White - we've done all ceilings and extension (walls and ceiling) in it and its lovely.

We've actually just done our hall in the last week in F&B Strong White - colour matched at Johnstones. Very good paint. Its a very very pale greige colour which looks fab in our (dark) hall.
