small range ovens

I should (fingers crossed!) be extending and renovating my house some time this year and I'm currently designing the kitchen. I'm looking at small range ovens, ideally 90 cm wide but could go to a metre, with 2 ovens and an induction hob.

I'm swaying towards a Smeg but although they seem to get decent reviews, the main complaint seems to be that the fans are noisy and since it will be my living space too, it's a bit off-putting. I also LOVE the colourful Bertazzoni ranges, but can't find many reviews for them anywhere.

I don't mind being a bit spendy but it must be electric, have an induction hob and look nice!

If anyone has a small range oven please tell me about it and if you'd recommend it 😊

We have a range master professional+ 100cm and it is absolutely fantastic, no complaints at all. My parents have a SMEG and although it's good they found that it was expensive to fix when they had a problem, which wasn't anything that would normally be complicated, they had to have the whole door taken off to fix it. I can't remember what the actual problem was though!

I have a Stoves Richmond 100cm range oven. Absolutely love it. 7 burners, 2 ovens, grill and warming drawer. Don't know how I managed with what we had before

There’s a rangemaster professional plus 90cm. We have the gas top one which has been great but ILs have the induction version and also love it. We inherited a smeg range with the house and it died despite not being particularly old, and a smeg oven we had in a previous house blew up whilst pyrolytic cleaning and they couldn’t have cared less. So I’d personally put Smeg down as a brand to avoid.

I've got the rangemaster professional+ 2 ovens, grill and gas hob and I love it. The wrong knob had been put on it for the grill (still worked, just confusing) and a rubber door seal was broken - no problem, sent out to me for free in the post, really helpful support people.

We've got an Everhot 90i which is a heat storage cooker (always on but does have eco settings to out it on low overnight). It has two induction rings, plus traditional hotplates and two ovens, one with a grill. 90cm wide or there is a 1m version. We love it.

Just to give a balance to some of the good Smeg reviews as the owner of one of their 90cm range ovens I wouldn't buy another. While it cooks beautifully the build quality is terrible, I've only had it a year and a bit and the writing has come off the front so have to guess what settings I'm using, the seal to the bigger oven has gone and the light that tells you the oven is on has disappeared into the bowels of the control panel somewhere.

I’m about to go for a rangemaster Elise 90 induction in stone blue. I’ve been pleased with the last rangemaster classic 90 dual
fuel we’ve had. It’s still in good condition so it’s on eBay now. However I no longer want a window/glass on a cooker anymore, the cleaning drives me nuts. Hence the rangemaster Elise, plus I like the french styling. Still slightly worried about leaving gas behind for induction, hope I’m going to like it!

LoveLabradors · 08/06/2022 17:49

My only slight criticism of the rangemaster classic is that the coating came off the knobs a little, for the price would’ve hoped for better.

I recently bought the Rangemaster Elise 110. I like it (both look and use). It comes in smaller sizes too and with an induction hob. Appliance City had the best availability and price when I was looking.

I have the Ilve Milano now. The quality wipes the floor with the Rangemaster I had previously which was shoddy in comparison.

I have the 900 duel full one but they do the induction hobs too, they also do the 1000.

this is mine, but not in this colour combo! You can choose from nine enamels and four knobs/rail choices.

Thanks everyone!

I so want Smeg to be the best as they are very much up my street looks wise. The bad reviews are very bad though, so they're definitely moving down the list.

I always had Rangemaster and Stoves down as more traditional but I'm liking the look of a lot of their ranges now I've had a proper look. Really like the Rangemaster Falcon and Professional.

DH actually gave me a droll 'lol' when I tried to get him onboard with the Everhot 🙄I reluctantly have to agree with him that it's way more than I can justify spending on an oven.

The Milano - also very nice!

I think I've might have made things more difficult for myself 😄

I own a SMEG Range, the 150cm one.

The looks are fantastic and it works well, but OH MY GOD this thing is unreliable. It's only because it's so expensive that I've not thrown it away and keep repairing/modifying it.

The timer has gone three times now. I've now bypassed it as the heating circuit is what keeps blowing up; it's just not man enough.

Three of the four fans have died and have to be replaced.

The oven seals go constantly and don't really fit correctly.

The markings on the front wear away so you have to guess what you're doing or buy a completely new front (£130) as I did.

The cover at the back vibrates and makes a nasty noise. I've fix this myself by adding damping washers which THEY should have done.

What a pile of horse shit it is.
