How to cover plywood back on furniture

I bought a shelving unit but am using it in the room. The back is that ugly cardboardy wood. How can this be concealed? The shelves are matt white. It’ll drive me bonkers as it looks crap. Ds has now fallen in love with it where it is. They (dh and Ds) think I’m ridiculous that this is irritating me.
It’s Ikea Vihals.
I do have some spray paint, could try that.
Wish there was a back panel you could buy.

Sticky back plastic?
Paint or wall paper it?
Have a mirror made to the right size and stick it on with mirror glue?
Paint a lovely painting on it?
Decoupage it?

Spray paint will go everywhere.

Apply two thin coats of silk emulsion with a 2-inch brush. Thin it with a little water in a jam jar to help you get a smooth finish. Especially the first coat due to absorbency. It need not be PBW.

Lie it flat to avoid runs. Lay a carpet of newspaper.

Matt paint is hard to clean, and gloss shows the faults.
