Is there anything more painful than waiting to exchange?

Honestly, I don’t know what’s taking the solicitors so long. I’m ready, the seller is ready. We both want to move ASAP. We’ve even signed the contracts. Why can’t they give us a date?!

We finally exchanged last week on the fifth attempt. Offer accepted early March and in theory a v straightforward purchase as we're in rental so chain-free and the seller apparently already had a property sorted.

Some problems were lack of honesty from either the seller or the EA about his position - needed probate granting on his purchase before he could exchange.
His solicitor was also dreadful - there were days when she just didn't answer the phone (including two that were meant to be exchange days).

We've never had such a slow process before - it took us 30 days to complete our sale last year and only about 6 weeks on our two previous house purchases.

We were due to exchange today. Considering initial completion date was 1st June I thought this was a fair call. Yesterday everybody agreed. Today problems with funds at bottom of chain and searches on fourth in chain. We are number three, only ones ready to go. Number five is empty.

Maybe next week 🙄

Oh and our buyer asked for money off yesterday but has already managed to get a new mortgage on lower rate. Do you think he knew he had us over a barrel 🤬🤬

My buyers have pulled out as I couldn't find a property. I got rushed by the EA to put my property on the market before I'd even viewed anything.
Back to the drawing board a lot more the wiser.

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one. Some of these stories are awful… 💐💐💐

We are in a chain of 3. Cash buyers. I’m at the bottom in rented. The middle family and I are all ready.

Couple at the top are mid 80s, and I believe don’t own a mobile, or have an email address. Stuff is being posted to the wrong addresses etc etc. This is how it used be in the 80s!

They’re moving out of a house they’ve been in for 42 years. Their next place is a retirement apartment, and the developers have put some very tight dates on their move… completion by 30 June.

Its all fairly local, and I’m almost on the verge of knocking on their door, to offer them some help, along with husband of the middle property!

Im torn between exploding in frustration and going round to give this couple a big hug… neither will I do!

It's a jungle out there. I've never in my years seen the likes of it. And we're feeding it when some of us just want or even need to move for personal reasons and get sucked in to the housing market.

Yeah there are a lot of things far, far worse.

When we were waiting to exchange I was also in the very early stages of pregnancy- not fun! Thankfully we exchanged and everything worked out great!

Lucky you if this is the most painful thing you have experienced!
Those people being made homeless don’t know they’re born.
