Asbestos survey

I am buying a property and the homebuyer survey has flagged some areas in the house that may contain asbestos. Money is tight especially that the place needs a full electronic rewire. Would you get just the ceiling checked or a full management survey? As I said only the ceilings will likely be touched at this stage. Any one was in a similar situation and is it worth the extra spend if you are not planning to disturb other areas in the house?

Personally, yes. We have done this in the past, and now we know not to fix anything to all but one of our ceilings.

Hit send too soon.
Probably not a management survey, but a refurb and demo survey/ sampling of the areas where we planned intrusive works, to pass on to anyone doing work in that place.

Ok, thanks! That was my inclination too as I am unlikely to touch anything else apart from ceilings!

If the place needs a complete rewire you might want to have the meter cupboard checked. Very common to have the meters installed on asbestos backboards (which is why I am not looking forward to rewiring ours. And why we can't have a smart meter!)

Ah, the meter is another issue all together! It is in the garage atm but hoping to move that outside at some distant point in the future to convert the garage into habitable space. Good point about getting that checked too! 🙈
