Lots of honeybees in loft room

Today we have suddenly had loads of honey bees in our loft conversion.
We are waiting for a beekeeper to come and investigate but looking on the internet it looks like they may have made a nest somewhere in the loft.
They were very lively but now are really dopey I'm so hoping it's a swarm rather than a nest
Has anyone had this? What was the outcome?

In 2019 I had a swarm of bees on the fascia board above my bedroom window. Local beekeepers came and eventually removed it. However, some bees remained and have been living peacefully somewhere in the cavity wall since then, coming and going and causing no trouble for three years. Two weeks ago they started getting very lively and it looked as if they were going to swarm, but they calmed down. This recurred several times and then they started coming into the house through closed windows and I had bees crawling on my bed. I made the decision that they had to go, and a pest control man came and pumped powder into their entry hole. He called it a colony rather than a swarm.

It was horrible. I could hear them buzzing and dying if I put my head against the bedroom wall. Many left the nest and dropped to the ground dying. They seemed to have been occupying a large area, about 4-5 ft across from the entry point. I blocked the entry holes with expanding foam. I felt/feel awful. I love bees.

just looked upstairs now and there is a about 100 of them laying around in the bathroom- ? sleeping? dead.
i love them too and have planted the garden to encourage them but having them in the house??
tomorrow is a long awaited planned sleep over fir the kids and i really don't know what to do.
the beekeeper is coming tomorrow
it's all so upsetting
i hope all is ok with you now

I've lived with bees in my house for years. No one ever got stung. We are not a barefoot household. I'm the summer we were sweeping up 200+ a day. We moved. And last year a bee colony moved in to the house too. We live with them. No harm no foul is my view. I couldn't kill them im afraid and often that is the only way to deal with it. You have a very very short time to act before they settle in. (Hours rather than days).

update the beekeeper came and blocked the entry hole said they were just a scoping party and as it was only the seconyday we'd seen them they hadn't established a nest.
