Has this dry verge system been fitted correctly?

Had it fitted last week but I'm concerned that it's not been done properly. He did remove all the old mortar but nothing was done to the battens.

I don't know. The picture from underneath looks odd, with bits sticking out.

It should be tucked under the edge tiles but I don't know much about retrofit dry verge added to an old roof.

The bits circled in blue is where render(?) broke off when he was removing the mortar.
