Cost of porch

We have a small 1970s terraced house. All the houses on our street have had porches enclosed but ours is the original which isn't enclosed (pic Inc). We would like to enclose it and knock in to hallway and make a bigger entrance/hallway. There is a back concrete wall and roof already there that I wouldn't think need replacing. Anyone done something similar and how much were you? We got 1 qoute at £15000 which I was shocked and put me off for a while.

Is there a porch in the street that you like? Ask them what builder they used.

Building work doesn’t take long to add up though. Insulation, new doors, levelling the floors to one level, plastering, decorating etc etc.

get three to five quotes in writing in the new year, and take it from there.

Good luck.

We are paying about that for a new porch, then the same again to turn the current cloakroom into a bigger shower-room as part of the same work. Asbestos remediation work has taken a chunk of cash too.

Thank for your replys. I need to get a few more quotes but wanted to get a rough guide at the costs.

We had a whole porch built two years ago was approx.£9000 however that was with keeping the original front door in place so it is a porch, then doorway into the house. In my area you need planning permission to remove the wall and existing external wall however that may not be the same for every area.

@stormelf@stormelfyeaneed planning permission for wall to be removed. Not sure if I should just get porch done then eventually take the wall down.

@stormelf did you get your porch done with building regs so you could eventually knock into house?
