Do they think I’m a bird brain?

Got double glazing in my flat. Arrive back from holiday to find the surrounds have been done in pine softwood and require to be painted. Nothing in the quote about this only white UPVC. Can I ask them to come back and change to UPVC? The actual windows are UPVC only the surrounds are softwood.

I prefer wood TBH. But I'm astonished they didn't ask first, I'd have thought that wood would cost more if it was nicely done. We had ours just fit the windows and doors and leave the surrounds to us as we wanted the sills, sides, tops, and edges and architrave surrounds all in wood. IMO they definitely should have asked you what you wanted.

Thanks, I think they're try to side step responsibility. Apparently its not pine either, its MDF which will have to be painted. I agreed to white UPVC but apparently I should have disagreed to the MDF that I didn't know they were going to do.

What is detailed on the quote OP? How did you pay?

The quote is quite basic stating new UPVC tilt and turn windows. I paid cash to the letting agent. Both company and letting agent are stating that because I didn’t I didn’t stipulate that I didn’t want MDF surrounds, that’s why the company fitted them. They have agreed to paint them. I don’t like being made a fool of but I’m getting worn down to be honest. I think I’m just going to accept that they will paint the wood and then change letting agents. I already have one lined up.
