Selling own property v using an agent

Just that really. Wanting to sell our house and aside from the obvious money saving that using a website like strike will allow, are there things to consider which we may not have thought about?

Has anyone had time wasters or difficulty with bringing enough people to view your property?

Would love to hear experiences of selling your own property, good and bad!

A lot of people do not want to have to deal directly with a seller. That said, if they like the look of the house I wouldn't think that would put them off. When it comes to progressing a sale, a good estate agent can earn their money keeping in touch with both parties and their solicitors and making sure any issues are dealt with.

Yes there is that, I understand it will be a lot of work on my part and just weighing up the pros and cons.

I sold my previous house using yopa and it was no real extra work. I choose to do my own viewings but you don't need to.. With these kind of agents they all do hosting packages. So then no different to traditional estate agents except for lower fees.

This time I am using strike. The important part is the conveyancing to move things along. I have found estate agents to be crap at this stage. A good solicitor and not a conveyancing company is a good idea.

Yopa was excellent and had a great online portal where answering buyers questions and dealing direct was very easy. Negotiating was easy but the online agent can also do it for you.

You can usually pick and choose what services you need and do the parts you want yourself.

For me saving thousands of pounds was worth it.
