Paying for decorating

Bit of a dilemma- my partner and I recently renovated our home but it cost more than anticipated and we’re left with some work to do that we have to save for, or do ourselves.
we need to paint nearly every room, both work full time, both travel a bit for work & my partner is doing a masters! So time is limited. I want to pay someone to do hallway as it’s a huge job but my partner says he will do it himself ‘eventually’.. I despair of living like this indefinitely whereas he doesn’t care about mess!
i can afford to pay for the decorator myself but wonder if I should? My partner spends a fortune on his hobbies & id would
like him to divert some of that money to getting the house finished.
Am I being unreasonable? Part of me thinks he should pay half, but part of me thinks it’s up to me if I want to pay someone or wait for him to have time to do it for free!
Ive loved alone for a lot of my adult life. Well with kids & so I’m used to doing my own thing.

We're in the same boat as you OP, and DH and I are gonna take 2 days off each and tackle the painting. Like you, our reno have gone way over budget and we're trying our best to DIY so cross fingers it goes well. We're also doing an entire 3 bed house...

We would take time off but we have zero annual leave! We’re getting married next month and also have a long haul trip early next year, (first world problems 😂)..
i tried to keep such tight control of our budget but extra things came up that we’re out of our control.
i wish you luck with the decorating x
