Hello - I am driving myself mad so hoping for some advice!

I am seeing an architect tomorrow to get plans drawn up for a kitchen extension. I am aiming for room large enough for a kitchen with a decent sized island and a dining table. But I don’t think I have space.

The kitchen area would be just over 5m by 5m - plus a living room snug 3m by 4m (the kitchen diner will run the full length of the back of the house, the snug is in the middle of the house if this makes sense!

anyone have the combined kitchen, island then dining table and if so how wide is the room?

thank you

Do you have a diagram of the space? Ours is approx 10m x 5.5m we have an L shaped kitchen along the back and half way along the side with an island then a 6 seated dining table then an L shaped sofa - I'll try to find a photo

Struggling to do pix, but I think you could fit it in, but you could chalk it out and see if it fits.
Our room has kitchen units along your 5m walls (right and bottom), island to the left, then dining table and sofa far left.

Some may depend on where your doors are

Our kitchen diner is about 5m square and fits a run of kitchen units, a 1m working space, a small (900mm deep) island and a decent sized dining
table pretty nicely.

On that basis I think it'll probably be fine, as long as the layout of the rest of the rooms doesn't result in you needing a major walkway past the table.

My kitchen has a big island with a table built into the end of it. Takes up a lot less space. It seats 4 but obviously could be bigger to take 6. Putting them together makes serving easy and you don’t need the extra space between them. 5m x 5m is a bit small. Ours is 5x7.

I was worried 5 by 5 was a little small.

its really as big as I can go with the extension / I need to use other space for a utility room.

back to the drawing board!!
