Painting cladding planks on front of house

Has anyone ever done this? I'm wondering about painting them or replacing them, we need to insulate underneath

Has anyone got any good pictures. Also will it need planning permission to change the colour?

It shouldn't need PP unless you're in a conservation area I would've thought. Not sure how insulating underneath will work though because that'll surely make them stand proud?

Good point! I'm kind of planning a pale pink colour now. Navy blue front door and garage. Might look like a chocolate box!

My old house had cladding on the upper storey, I had it painted, it was done with weathershield paint.
