Areas to live around Loughborough for a single income household?

Hiya! I’m sorry if I seem like a bit of an impostor as I don’t really have any kids, but you guys on here seem to have some good advice on properties so I thought I’d ask for some advice.

I’m thinking about relocating to somewhere near Loughborough as I’ve recently started a job there (just at the back of the university, on the side of the M1.) I’ve got 2 cats and quite a lot of stuff so essentially looking for a 2 bedroom house or a ground floor flat to rent.

My question is where do you think I should look? I had a look at Loughborough but the prices there are quite a bit over my budget so that’s not really an option. I found a house in Shepshed, near the church, that I like the look of but I’ve read some bad things about Shepshed in general.

Areas in Leicester are more than welcome as it’s a nice midpoint between work and my boyfriend, and I’ve got a few friends there. There’s a house on Watkin Road that looks good too but I know nothing about the area.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Anstey Heights , lots of countryside, lots of house for a little money. Quoin ? Nice but expensive, Mountsorrel is nice as is Birstall.depends how much you want to spend 😊

Thank you. Birstall was one of the ones where I saw a few places but wasn’t sure if it was rough. I probably wouldn’t want to spend more than £800pcm so Quorn and Mountsorrel are sadly out of the question.

Birstol isn't rough although they have an issue with wanlip sewage works giving off a pungent smell especially in hot weather.

Might be worth a look at Thurmaston, syston, queniborough,Hamilton and Humberstone.

It’s actually Biffa that’s a tad pungent ! What about Groby ? Close to the M1 j22, Syston would be ok as well. Birstall is fine, lots of new builds.
