What colour to paint the exterior of my pebbledashed house?

My house needs painting. It used to be white, then we went Gardenia which is a bit paler than Magnolia. Now it needs doing again. I don't want to do any version of the dreaded grey. I worry that if we go white again, the upvc window frames might look grotty. So what colour do you think is best white, Jasmine white or Gardenia?

What colour are your immediate neighbours?

TheCanyon · 06/05/2022 21:05

Upvc can easily be painted with zinsser. Not grey or yellow! I'd keep it white. Depends on the house really.

What colour tiles do you have?

PlantingTrees · 06/05/2022 21:06

Pale blue looks nice.

Sage green

We’ve just bought this for an outdoor wall in the back garden. Haven’t used it yet but the photos in the reviews look good.

I’d avoid blue or Green I think they give a cold/mould impression.

Sage green is popular here at the moment but I agree it needs to tone with the neighbours.

Gardenia on one side & white on the other.

If you are happy with gardenia I would stick with that. Incidentally I'm in same position, although not pebble dashed my house has external insulation so the render isn't completely smooth. I've just googled gardenia and think that will be the colour we go for as well. I am also keen to stay clear of grey, many houses in the street have been painted grey but it just looks too stark for the style of house in my opinion

CellophaneFlower · 07/05/2022 17:08

I would go with Jasmine white, simply as I don't like anything too yellow/cream, but I get what you're saying about the windows and pure white. Jasmine white is a lovely off white.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/05/2022 17:11

I'm tempted to do ours paleblue with a navy blue front door the next time it needs doing.

(I live in Bristol and regularly visit Mull and both places have a thing about coloured houses).

NormalForNuneaton · 07/05/2022 17:19

I nearly started this thread a few months ago!

We ended up going for an off white but one with no cream/yellow in it as I wanted to avoid the magnolia look.

We felt that bright white would have been a bit much especially at the back where it's a suntrap. You'd end up with snow blindness! 😎

Terracotta.
But we need a photo of the house.

banhmi · 07/05/2022 17:31

Anything but grey!

banhmi · 07/05/2022 17:32

Sorry should have read the original post properly. Phew!

Howeverdoyouneedme · 07/05/2022 17:32

Pale pink

SPRINGAIR · 08/05/2022 09:00

Can anyone share a picture of your recently painted pebble dashed houses if you don’t mind?

TattiePants · 08/05/2022 20:32

@M4ple according to my neighbour, my house is currently gardenia (painted before we moved in). The paint sample is Jasmine White which we’ve agreed with our attached neighbour to use. Our decorator starts tomorrow so happy to post some pics once it’s painted.
