Moving to Cheshire/ Maccesfield

We are moving to Cheshire in the summer, I have a job in SK10 Maccesfield. We don’t know the area at all, what areas would people recommend to live in?

We are moving from London and will likely rent for the first year to get to know the area better. We have a little boy who is 16 months and would like a nice safe area with nice parks. Any nursery tips would be ideal too!

Thank you!

Tytherington and Bollington are both nice, there are a few little parks dotted around the Tytherington estates and bigger parks in town - West Park and South Park.

Depends on budget really, wilmslow and alderley edge are probably considered the ‘best’ areas but what are your priorities?

Sorry they’re SK9 but next door

We visited Wilmslow recently and really loved it there, I would love to live there hopefully more properties come up. We didn’t visit Alderley Edge but I imagine it is similar?

Wilmslow is lovely, nicer than Alderley in my opinion. Alderley is somewhat homogenous expensive housing and a single high street where people showcase expensive cars on Saturdays to local kids who take photos of them. Wilmslow is a bit bigger, vibrant and more diverse. And has more broad housing stock, ranging from super expensive to expensive-but-more-affordable.

We lived in Macclesfield itself until a couple of years ago when we had to move for a new job. We loved living in Macc - lots going on and a good community feel. Worth looking at Scamps day nursery near South Park which my DS attended - it was a lovely little place with great staff.
