Front room red carpet and loft bathroom. Both have very stained floors but the ceilings look ok. pic here

What exactly is it about the walls that shows the damp? I'm trying to see it but I don't!

Monty27 · 08/05/2022 03:24

It looks like trouble to me. 500k minus 200k to have the place fixed. It needs new floors judging by that and I didn't notice if it's listed. I'd imagine so. More £££
Not a lot of bang for your buck.

LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee · 08/05/2022 08:20

Can anybody link to the 2017 photos please?

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 08/05/2022 08:23

It almost looks too bad to be damp. Is it unoccupied? Could the radiators all that leaked when they were turned off and it’s been left to sit for months and months?

lljkk · 08/05/2022 08:24

Flooding in 2020 ?

ItsDinah · 08/05/2022 08:27

State of the roof in picture 7 might be a clue.

Summersdreaming · 08/05/2022 08:35

Eeek that has money pit written all over it. And it's absolutely tiny. And they want someone to pay half a mill?

Summersdreaming · 08/05/2022 08:36

Reduced 7th April, I wonder how long it's been on for?

Dearmariacountmein · 08/05/2022 08:49

Given the deterioration from last listing to now I’d say either flooding or a hoarder.

Pootle40 · 08/05/2022 08:50

Never mind the floors did someone add a 0 to the price by accident ?! 😬

Luculentus · 08/05/2022 08:55

I like the way they describe it as having scope to modernise. And an estate agent really ought to know how to spell "borders".

Oblomov22 · 08/05/2022 08:58

Cute house? For 1/2 million, I too wouldn't touch it with a barge pole and my 2 x bil's are builders.

Click on Nearby sold prices on RH side. It's 3rd one down (#4).

It looks like the whole place has been submerged in water for weeks. Although the cooker has been taken out so I wonder if it was someone who couldn't be trusted not to leave it on all night.

Third one down when I click on that is a property in Parchment street which clearly isn't this one?

HalloHello · 08/05/2022 09:25

Half a bloody million for that pile of damp rubbish!!!!

Clymene · 08/05/2022 09:27

Really @Luculentus? They're all on the same street on my Rightmove.

This link might work: www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=45048942&sale=89927157&country=england

Somanyquestions1984 · 08/05/2022 09:40

Winch! I’m in the area and will use this to explain to colleagues why I am also looking in Basingstoke villages and outskirts of Southampton. Winchester is just so damn expensive.

AnneKipankitoo · 08/05/2022 09:47

That link takes you to the same house before the “flood” @Clymene

ReadyToMoveIt · 08/05/2022 09:52

It’s quite sad that the house has deteriorated so much in 5 years.

Clymene · 08/05/2022 09:53

Oh good! Because that's what @LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee was asking for.

AnneKipankitoo · 08/05/2022 09:56

It is a different woodburner.
I do think there has been flood damage though.

StEvenEdge · 05/05/2022 20:11

Owners spontaneously combusted in each and every room.

Other than that it's an old property built before they had such things as damp proof courses and it's been covered in non breathable plaster etc so the only place for the water to release is through the floor. It's probably an old stone floor under that carpet and the ground is probably higher than the floor outside

Not so much spontaneously combusted as quietly died and rotted unnoticed, poor souls. But seriously I think that was a hoarder house which has been stripped and staged, badly. Those internal walls will need to be demolished and rebuilt.

heymammy · 08/05/2022 10:32

Haudyourwheesht · 05/05/2022 21:50

Half a million quid!

Shock

My thoughts exactly, that house is a shit show!!

3luckystars · 08/05/2022 13:16

How did it get so wrecked in a few years? That’s awful.

picklemewalnuts · 08/05/2022 14:32

@JennyJumpup here:
this one's the total give away, though the area around the fireplace isn't great, either.
Also, the one which shows the inside of the front door and the underside of the stairs- that vertical board is bent and the skirting below it appears fuzzy.

I wonder whether it was a catalogue of disasters- first the flood, then furniture piled upstairs and the house left empty, then a roof leak on top.
