Howdens Lamona - good quality?

We are having some work done as part of an insurance claim and are being offered a Howdens Lamina oven to replace our very old but reliable Siemens oven. I don't know anything about their appliances and am not sure whether to push back and request a Siemans. Does anyone have any advice?

Ours was awful but we might just have been unlucky. If you can push for a different one I definitely would.

TheCanyon · 05/05/2022 18:35

Nope. Utter utter shit.

Oh no!

we’ve had a Lamont fridge/freezer and dishwasher for 6 years, no issues so far (crosses fingers)

Run fast in the other direction.

SoManyTshirts · 05/05/2022 18:40

moved into a house with one. It did work for the first 9 years but I never liked it. Cheap and nasty, and I say that as someone whose normal go-to for appliances is “Argos’s second cheapest”.

Leafypage · 05/05/2022 18:44

Lamona go on forever if you look after them, they aren’t as posh as the premium brands but they are extremely solid and reliable. They are no-frills so don’t expect the kind of things you can get from Miele or Bosch.

mommybear1 · 05/05/2022 18:49

@hallwaypaint it would be a definite downgrade from your Siemens. I would insist on a like for like replacement.

Rubybetsie · 05/05/2022 18:49

Worst appliances I have ever used...avoid.

hallwaypaint · 05/05/2022 18:50

Yes, it does sound like a downgrade. I'll definitely push back on that. Thanks everyone!

Maybe not just unlucky then judging from other replies Confused

NeverDropYourMooncup · 05/05/2022 20:06

God, no.

First one went bang within 4 weeks. Three months later and probably more than the cost of the oven in phone calls on hold to them, they replaced it. That lasted just long enough for the warranty to not apply anymore.

ProseccoStorm · 05/05/2022 20:07

Dreadful. Glad you're avoiding

pudseypie · 05/05/2022 20:08

No no no no no!! Worst purchase we made with our new kitchen. Oven had 3 new heating elements before I gave up and just replaced it with another brand.

Cocoaone · 05/05/2022 21:37

We also replaced untold heating elements in our lamona oven. The dishwasher was also useless.

The induction hob was great through!

LemonRedwood · 05/05/2022 21:40

Moved into a house that had brand new Lamona oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Oven lasted 18 months and we replaced with a Neff. Other two are still working 6 years on but they're not great quality.

Don't buy a lamona cooker that's all I will say!! Wish we'd listened to the warnings when we got our new kitchen from Howdens 2 years ago. Cooker is rubbish, everything takes ages to cook and had a nightmare trying to cook Christmas dinner with it.
