Everhot oven - do you still have to turn it off in summer?

We inherited an aga which I love BUT its a total gas-guzzler and also south-facing kitchen gets v warm so we need a second oven for the summer months.

Planning a new kitchen and wondering if an Everhot is the answer as we can keep it on all year and it won't cost quite so much to run. Also not having to squeeze in an alternative oven and hob would be a massive bonus.

Anyone got one? Does it stay on all year?

I definitely leave mine on all year round. I turn one of the ovens off in the summer when we use the bbq.
It gives out a lot lees heat into the kitchen than an aga does

That's the trade-off @Littlemissprosecco but I think I'd prefer a cooler winter kitchen of it means we don't need 2 cookers!

We'ver a Rayburn 600K, so it's off or on for cooking, but the heating / hot water is on timers separately . We tie it in with solar & an electric oven but increasingly I prefer to use our combo microwave, minimal electricity used. If I got a new kitchen I'm tempted to get rid of the cooker but do think a stand alone hob for summer use is handy though.

I only turn ovens off in a proper heatwave and then I keep one on. I miss having all the ovens and the hotplate so they go straight back on again as soon as I can! I adore my everhot, you won't regret it.

Agas seem crazy to me Why would anyone want an 'always on' oven?!

Littlemissprosecco · 01/05/2022 15:46

Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it!

I blooming love it @FurierTransform . You wouldn't believe it but it transformed our family life having a warm and cozy kitchen. The kitchen in our old house was cold and not well laid out and moving here with a warm kitchen with an aga next to a big dining table meant the teenagers were there all the time and eating dinner with us again. Sounds silly but it made a big difference.

I am now addicted to having an oven on all the time for warming, slow-cooking, washing-drying etc.

I have the small Everhot and don't turn it off in summer. However in v hot weather it does get a bit unpleasant being near it and I might just turn the oven off and leave the hotplate on. I never have the simmering plate on anyway, it's hot enough just from the main plate.

It doesn't put out as much heat as an Aga and I do need a radiator but only a tiny one - the planned kitchen one was ripped out as soon as the Everhot got switched on as it was obviously far too much.

We have an Everhot 120i. We turn the hot plate off in the summer and the third oven. It doesn’t make the kitchen too hot at all. We previously had an aga and it doesn’t pump out anything like as much heat as that did.
