Downdraft extractor fan

Does anyone have one of these? Hoping to get one for my kitchen island but getting an externally piped one is not possible now (screen on UFH already done). My other option is carbon filters.

Are these worthwhile? I hope so! I think they're my only option.

ask yourself what you would have to do to get an overhead extractor, ducted to an external wall.

This isn't possible @PigletJohn . The hob is on an island and my builder forgot to lay pipe work for this.

I'm trying to read about downdraughts and extractor fans with filters but I'm not getting very far.

what's the ceiling height; what is above, and which direction do the joists run?

and how far is it from an external wall?
