The mattest matt white paint

Hi all,

Just redecorating the kitchen diner, and painting the ceilings. I've got Dulux Brilliant White Matt Emuslsion, but it has gone on SO shiny!

What recommendations have you got for actually matt matt white paint? I've got a LOT of ceiling, so whilst I don't mind spending on fancy paints for the walls, I'm looking at Dulux price rather than F&B price for the ceilings!

We used Dulux matt in white cotton, it is very matt and sort of chalky on the wall.

A top tip I've learned from painters, B&Qs good home white is brilliant.

Is the Dulux White Cotton properly white white?

YY Dulux trade supermatt. It has no vinyl and is what is usually used on new plaster and ceilings. It is the perfect dead flat pure white matt. The only issue is that the lack of vinyl means it is not scrubbable but it is easily and invisibly touched-up.

Agree with Dulux Trade Supermatt. It is very matt, and very white.

Not wipeable though - which shouldn't be a problem with ceilings, unless your desires are unconventional.

Supermatt is the best for ceilings. Our aged wobbly ceilings look beautiful and smooth.

Yes this. Our builder recommended it and we’re really happy with the result. Only needed 1 1/2 coats on bare plaster so worth the cost.

If it’s kitchen easycare paint, it is does have a sheen, I assume that makes it wipeable. I never buy standard Matt, as I am far too clumsy and spill stuff regularly 😂

You don’t generally need wipeable paint on the ceiling, though.

Valspar matt White is very very matt. Not a bit of shine.
