What is the worst house you've ever moved in to?

I got the keys to my first flat yesterday and I've spent all day today so far cleaning it and it just seems like a never ending mission! Everything is yellow, pet hairs all stuck to the bottom of the kitchen cupboards and I even found hairs in the bath , there are layers of grease everywhere and there is dirt literally ingrained into the bathroom floor no matter his many times I mop it. Please tell me your horror stories and reassure me that it does get there in the end 😄. I feel like I'll be cleaning it for weeks.

We moved in to a new house to discover there was pretty much no water supply and no way of locating the external stopcock! Took a visit from the water board a week later to search it out! Found in a neighbours garden who had never known it existed, and turned the tap so it opened properly which resolved the issue. No idea how the previous occupant actually lived here!

I'm still finding dog hairs three years later...

The house we lived in previous. Condemned garage in the garden, with asbestos in the roof that could have collapsed any minute, rubbish dumped in the back garden that housed a rats nest, shoddy pointing, damp in every single room, shitty paint work, leaky guttering and shower. Landlords gave zero shits.

we have struck absolute gold with the house we have now, it feels like a palace and is twice the size.

Moved into a nice little flat. Even had a balcony and trees around, lovely development.

NOPE.

  1. Landlady lived in a mansion next door (they'd built in their garden basically) and she was always poking around staring at ppl. I once parked a little too close to the line (I had a migraine I think!) and within five minutes had an email.
  1. It was bloody infested with huge huge house spiders. At least two a week, all year round. I could not relax, I was always looking around twitchily.
  1. Landlady came to do check out inspection and literally shrieked with horror that I'd..... hung a picture. 'But now I'll have to replaster the walls' she cried. I told her about polyfilla and I never did get charged for that. She was far too attached to the development, there was no 'quiet enjoyment' allowed there.

Thankfully I moved out after a year and never had to speak to her again. I can still hear that shriek.
