Moving to the Catford Corbett estate and secondary schools

Hi, wasn't sure whether I should post this in education, but leaving it here for now!

We are considering buying a house in the Corbett estate in Catford - towards the top end, about 10- 15 mins walk to Hither Green station. Torridon would be the closest primary but I know there are several good primaries close by so not too worried about that.

DS is only young but I'm trying to think ahead to secondary as I'd really rather not have to move for secondary school. I know st Dunstans is a popular private option, but ilthe area seems to be a bit of a state secondary school blackspot.

I know there are loads of families in Catford, particularly in the Corbett estate, so....SE6 residents, please tell me - where do your secondary school aged children go? Are you happy with the schools? And how is life on the Corbett Estate? Do you recommend it?
Thank you in advance :-)

As you say, it's a bit of a difficult area for secondaries and I'm not sure what people do myself. You're probably best asking this on one of the local Facebook groups. Try mummy's gin fund. Lots of local mums to ask there. Good luck!

Hello @Marbles321

I knowthat area well.

local sec schools

Sedgehill
St Matthews
Bonus Pastor
Ravensbourne
Hatcham Wood
Haberdashers Askes

Christ the King (6th form)
Thomas Moore
Thomas Tallis
Coopers
Sid & Chid?

There has always been a lot of traffic travelling out of borough (I went to school in Blackheath). Despite Catford’s reputation in the past it’s a nice quiet place to grow up, Torridon library was brilliant and anywhere on the Corbett is walking distance to Foster Park and the Heath.
