hiya,

I’d like to have my kitchen cabinets repainted, but cannot decide on the colour. if you were me, would you go with white as it’s timeless, or try a dark colour as it looks more fashionable? Attaching 2 pics, one is our kitchen as is (brown) the other is an example (dark grey) from pinterest.

We’re also planning to knock the wall down on the left, so the worktop will have to be changed too.

White, so I didn’t have to redo it in a couple of years!

it depends on your family if you have small children who are likely to leave mucky fingerprints and kid stuff on the doors white will drive you mad cleaning it what i would do is get two tester pots one white one dark grey and paint a piece of cardboard then stand it against the units so you would get an idea of what colour will look like in your kitchen

yeah I have two little monsters… and once the wall is knocked over, kitchen will be opening to the dining room which is decorated in dark colours. if I pick white I worry it will be too bright compared to the rest of the room, but if I pick dark it could be a little too dark as it’s a small kitchen and not facing south so not taking too much light in…

Because it’s an open plan area with dark dining area colours, I’d go for white to ‘lift’, especially if it’s north facing. It would all appear very dark otherwise.

Just my opinion, but an off white is nicer than a stark white.

That dark grey is really lovely though.

Definitely get testers and try both. Maybe with a white worktop, you’d get away with dark cabinets

off white is a good alternative actually, thanks for the suggestion!

You could do dark on the base cabinets and lighter on wall cabinets. Dark Grey with a Cashmere/Light Taupe is lovely.
