Renting with pets

I'm about to sell my house hopefully and long story short I'm having a few problems getting a mortgage at the moment. So it looks like I might have to rent for a year or so. I will have about £250K in the bank and I earn okay as a teacher. I've heard it's difficult to rent with pets but I've also heard that landlords have to have a good reason to refuse pets. It will be me a 49 year old woman and my 19 year old daughter renting and two cats. Any advice please

It is difficult to rent with pets, especially in this competitive market. You will be about as popular as a hog roast during Ramadan.

There has been a lot of misinformation flying around about the new model tenancy agreement. There is no obligation for landlords to use the new model tenancy agreement, and the reality is that they can still refuse to accept pets on a whim.

If you can stay where you are I would do so.
