HMKC Kickboard and Dishwasher infolight

Has anyone solved this?

We have just fitted a new dishwasher that does the little infolight projection on the floor into our new HMKC kitchen, and now realise that the planted plinth obstructs the projection.

Fitter wanted to cut a whole chunk out of the kickboard (no thanks!) as he said drilling a hole within it was too hard as the laser projects at an angle, but I have found pictures of it working with a solid timber plinth, but no instructions on how...

Has anyone solved this? It's a little thing, but I was excited about my infolight and the prospect of never being sprayed with filthy water ever again.

Not sure there's going to be a solution that doesn't look awful, to be honest!

Practically all fitted kitchens have the plinth recessed behind the door fronts, and the info projection thingies are generally made to project downwards behind the doors but in front of the plinth.

I suspect you'll have to resign yourself to getting sprayed with water. 🙁

The info light is just a little led bulb pointing straight down, is it not? Does it shine on your hand if you put it underneath?
I would suspect it must be the way the dishwasher and plinth have been fitted.
why would the dishwasher manufacturers make machines that can project light or time stamps if no one could see them? And we all have a plinth under the dishwasher.
no practical help, sorry, but I'd go back to your kitchen designer.

The "planted plinth" option on HMKC kitchens isn't like a standard kitchen plinth. Instead of being set back from the cupboard doors, it's set slightly in frony of them, as shown in the pics linked below.

Unfortunately this means the space through which the info lights usually project doesn't exist on these kitchens.

I think our 'plinth' counts as 'framed' in HMKC speak. Still can't see how that is going to work.... :{

I have the same type of plinth as you and have the projected infolight on our washing machine. Unfortunately there's no way that the display can be seen.

I am about to have the same issue with our HMKC delivery. Please can you post the pictures you have seen of possible solution and i will see if our fitter can help. We have 2 dishwashers in new layout so may find it easier to manage without the light if we can remember which one we have set off. How has the rest of your fitting been?

SlightlyJaded · 26/04/2022 22:47

Completely love our kitchen and fitting is brilliant. The after-care has been great as well. I had them come back to very lightly sand the bottom of a couple of the doors and they were super helpful.

I haven't solved the plinth issue though. Attaching an image of our plinth to show you what hasn't worked!

Glad you are pleased with your kitchen. No photo has attached - but i would be interested to see the plinths. did you paint your kitchen?

hi guys im a kitchen installer in bedfordshire and i come across this alot. the problem usually happens when there is a handless kitchen or the dishwasher is not raised high enough.

to install a dishwasher, the unit is place in the 60cm gap and the legs are raised until the dishwasher is snug against the underside of the worktop, usually at a floor to worktop height of 870mm.
with a handless rail kitchen the dishwasher is 70mm lower than it should be so it sits under the rail. the problem is this 70mm places the led display lower and there for it hits the kickboard rather than the floor.
also if your installers have fitted a wooden rail to attach to that drops the dishwasher this would also affect the height and can stop the led light from shining on the floor.

for all handless kitchens i recommend the slide door dishwasher variety so as the plinth does not need cut and with this dishwasher a red on light is displayed out of the door (bosch and neff).

i have been requested to sort the issue on some kitchens by cutting the plinth independently in front of the dishwasher and setting it back so as to return the plinth, im not a fan of this.
