Anyone that works in this field could you shed light on rough timings once contracts are signed.

Or someone that has sold within the last year?

Thank you 😀

This is massive crystal ball stuff. Do you mean after you've signed or after exchanged? We signed ours months ago and still haven't exchanged. Once you've exchanged usually not long til you complete, so you may be only a few weeks away. Good luck

Really need some more information to be able to give you any meaningful help.

Contracts can be signed very early in the process, several weeks or even months before exchange, or the day before exchange. There is no correlation between when contracts are signed and timing of exchange.

Do you mean between exchange and completion or between signing the contract and when they are actually exchanged? As others have said, you can sign the contract way before they are actually exchanged.

If you are asking about the timing between exchange and completion that is a completely different thing. Sold 2-properties and bought a new one in the past year.
Property-1 sale, time between E&C 4+ months (our choice).
Property-2 purchase, time between E&C 8-months (standard newbuild timescale).
Property-3 sale, time between E&C 1-day.

Are you absolutely sure you’ve exchanged?

If you’ve exchanged you will have a completion date that is fixed. Or at least a latest date that completion has to take place by, known as a back-stop or long-stop date.

It would be unusual to say the least for exchange to have taken place whilst still waiting for Land Registry to update the title, as it’s difficult/impossible to estimate how long this process may take.
