Amtico flooring too dark

We inherited very dark (mahogany ish) amtico flooring in our house. It was expensive and isn’t that old, but it’s the wrong colour for the house, which doesn’t get that much light. Is there a creative option outside of ripping up and replacing, which feels very wasteful? I don’t think you can sand and I need to lighten, so staining isn’t an option. Can flooring be laid over it at least?

You just need a levelling compound over the top. With so many lighter woods, why did they choose a dark one? Odd. You cannot sand it. It’s not real wood!
