How to repair cast-iron dangle drawer pulls?

I have some antique dangle drawer pulls, at the top of which is a loop (which threads through the part that goes into the drawer). The loops on two of these handles have cracked. Does anyone have any knowledge how they might be repaired? I'm told cast iron can't be welded? It's such a small fiddly thing to mend but I really want to save them. Any ideas?

Something like Milliput? It comes in different colours and grades and can be painted once dry to get a more exact colour match.
