Herrinbone tiling - Opinions

Hi,
Just had my bathroom tiled with herringbone style and wanted to get an opinion on the job. My main concerns are that the herringbone design doesn't wrap around corners and grout & alignment seem to be off on certain parts (pictures attached). Do you know if this is standard and expected for herringbone or is it a bad job and if so can it be fixed?

kleoni · 16/04/2022 21:44

Is there another way ?

Crossed posts!

That's some unique tiling, hard to get a sense of, but I wouldn't presume it was herringbone if I just happened past it.

SleeplessWB · 16/04/2022 22:04

It doesn't look properly lined up around the corners to me. I would expect the lines to match across the corners.

Imabouttoexplode · 16/04/2022 22:06

Not right at all. It looks dreadful.

pilates · 17/04/2022 08:05

It doesn’t look great to my untrained eye.

ememem84 · 17/04/2022 08:20

Does not look great.

It’s on the walls? I’ve just had my floors done herringbone. To make it work we had to rotate the pattern (I say we - the tiler did it).

We recently had our bathroom and cloakroom redone and the tiler said he'd redone lots of bodged herringbone jobs due to less experience tilers or builders messing it up. You need a good thickness (width) of tile otherwise the pattern is hard to follow - the tiles look too thin (width wise) to achieve the correct look too. Sorry OP.

The angles are completely different. I have just drawn lines over your image and posted the result above. The lines should be parallel.

Suspect your tiler setup incorrectly and carried on past the point of no return.

SomethigWentBang · 17/04/2022 09:27

Correction to that explanation. There should only be 1 line because the blue line would be covering the red line. There should be marvellous right angle.
