Putting in an offer when house on market

So we have our home on the market - it's been on 2 days and have had 5 viewings.
We've seen one we love but obviously not in the position to put down a solid offer.
We have our mortgage in principle. I know that the house we like has another viewing on Monday.
I've spoken to the venders over purple bricks and they know we are interested.
I just don't know what to do. Our realtor said there's no point putting in an offer as we could not do a deal as such as we aren't in the best position.

I don't really know what I'm asking just more of an 'uurrggghhh' post really!

We you can still put in an offer - and legally their estate agent has to put it forward.
It might not be accepted but they should at least know it's on the table

Fingers crossed for yours to be offered on too!

Our buyers hadn’t quite got their house on the market when they came to view ours. I was happy for them to view it anyway. They were just waiting for it to go live on Rightmove. They made an offer and we accepted it and held the house for them while they sold theirs which took about a week. I was fine with this- they were a lovely couple, we knew their house would sell and I was happy to pause viewings because I hated the whole viewing process! May as well give it a go!

You can put an offer but allow the vendor to continue to advertise, or you can put an offer on the condition that is removed from the market if yours doesn’t sell within x amount of months.

Having said that, you are saying “realtor” which makes me think you are in the US and then the above first apply.

I'm UK - I should of said estate agents :)

We are going to view it again this week and have some second viewings on our property so just hoping this week goes well! X
I think I will put an offer in at some point this week once our viewings have been done to see what position we are in x

I wouldn't bother...unlikely to accept and all it does is show how keen you are. Wait u til sold and there is a realistic chain lined up

Just to update - as it was over purple bricks the owners actually reached out to us as they’re not in a rush to sell so said knowing our situation they would still consider an offer!
we offerEd below asking price and they came back with a counter offer still below but also said they’d take it off market!! So yay!!
we sold our house a week later
