Hello, we are moving house (thankfully very close)!and will have a 3 month old & 4 year old. Would anyone have any invaluable tips on organizing the move?? We will hire a removal form to do the actual move.

Have a list of things for the children you absolutely cannot do without and then make sure that is all in a specially marked box so it’s not at the back of the moving van/under a pile of other boxes when you need it

We did it with a 4-week-old and a 3-year-old and I can’t think of anything we did particularly beyond getting a professional packing/moving service.

I think childcare to allow you to sort stuff is the main thing. If not for the 3 month old, you just need to stagger things so one of you takes the baby and the other sorts/packs/cleans. I’d also really recommend a cleaner for each property if you can afford it. We’ve moved ourselves every time with dc. Childcare and an extra pair of hands (friend) to help with lifting the big stuff helped. I’m not a fan of packing services because I’d rather just know where everything is with small dc.

I don't agree with PP not recommended packing service. We booked full packing service - I would NEVER have packed everything in half a day like the removal guy did. It's their job and they're incredibly fast and efficient. They label everything and proceed room by room so you'll know where things are. We had a special suitcase for baby stuff and another one for laptops, valuables, and things needed on the first day, and we put this in the bath with a "don't touch" label. We moved this in the car ourselves. I also recommend help with childcare in the first couple if weeks. You'll want to unpack and organise, and toddler getting in the way was SOOO IRRITATING ;)
