car charger installed today help please!

So a local electrical company installed my pod point EV charger today. They left me the leaflet on how to get started. There should be a light in the charger apparently? There is no light whatsoever and it’s definitely not charging the car. It’s as if there’s no electricity to it at all.
Am I being an idiot?

What brand is it? I have an Ohme, when I touch the screen it lights up but I don’t need to press it to start charging - I just plug the car in and it starts. Is the isolator switched on inside? I switch mine off between charges so no can can ‘steal’ my electricity for their car - unlikely as it is I would rather not risk it!

Sorry - I can see how you said it’s a Podpoint. Have you downloaded the app? I have it for public chargers and there’s a button on there to connect a home Podpoint.

It’s a pod point. The isolator is on makes no difference. I’ve managed to speak to the guy who installed it who says the light was definitely on when he left Hmm
He’s coming back tomorrow apparently.

Yes tried to connect on the app but that just asked for the serial number and then said it was emailing the owner. We didn’t get any email.
But the fact there’s no light at all is what worries me.

We have a podpoint and we just connect it to the car and it starts charging. Don't think that is much help to you to be honest.

I think they’ve fucked up on the installation 🙄 I had a bad feeling about this company, should have listened to my gut.

It sounds faulty, hopefully you’ll get it sorted tomorrow.

Has it tripped on your circuit board?

TheVolturi · 13/04/2022 20:56

We have the older style pod point that was fit in 2016, it does not connect to the app. But there is a light on it, you can't see it in daylight really though. It's sort of underneath the box. Have you pushed the charger right into your car until it clicks? Takes a hard push when they're new.

MissyB1 · 13/04/2022 21:09

Nothing tripped on the circuit board, but it has its own isolator switch outside.
There is no light anywhere on it. I just don’t think it’s working.
The one good thing is I haven’t paid anything yet.

I have a podpoint. Yes it should have a light on it, it sounds like not installed properly. You should be able to plug and charge without using the app. I don't use the app at all as I don't have a smart phone. The other thing that can go wrong it can need a software update from podpoint, but in that case the light would be blue.

Trying to get them to come out and sort it today but I have a bad feeling. 🙁 As I say I haven’t paid yet - and nor will I until it’s working.
