So we have 2 rooms to paint : do we have to do white and then do the new colour?

  1. Room1 :currently Dark brown walls. We’ll be changing it to light cream. Do we have to do two coats of cream colour or do one coat white and then do one coat cream?
  1. Room2: currently cream walls. We’d like to change it to another light colour with a very light brown tinge. Say dulux Egyptian cotton. Should we do 2 coats of new colour or white + one coat ?

I don’t. I just do two or more coats of the colour I’m doing.

  1. room 1 - you probably have to do a coat of white then 2 coats of your chosen colour.
  2. room 2 - two coats of your chosen paint

You'll probably find you need two white, two colour on the dark brown walls.

For the cream walls, you can probably get away with two coats new colour unless the cream is a particularly strongly different hue.

But in both cases - go ahead and test it. Slap the new paint on on a square foot or so, see what covers.
