Delaying full mortgage application

My partner is self employed and we have been advised by our mortgage advisor to apply for our mortgage at the end of their business year (July). We plan to put our current home on the market late May/early June.
If we saw a house we wanted to offer on in June, could we do so and just wait a few weeks to complete the full mortgage application? We're just in a competitive market and don't want to miss out on a house that ticks all the boxes.

We are very serious buyers and have no reason to think our mortgage will be denied.

Any advice would be welcomed!

You can do what you want, but whether the vendor of the house you are purchasing would be happy with this, and would continue through with the sale is completely different. Personally I would remarket if you delayed any of the steps
