May be moving to Acomb in York and I was wondering if anyone here knows if if it is safe? Moving with a young family?

Thank you!

It’s not the roughest area but it does have its issues
I’ve seen drug dealing in the street and a few pissed up people walking down the road-but they may have been one offs
I used to live down the road in dringhouses which was a bit further away from this issues and very quiet-I had no problems there (apart from a snotty neighbour)
The shopping is good on front street-lots of charity shops (or there used to be-I’ve not been there for a few years)
My brother lives there and he’s fine with the area-i didn’t like it as I don’t drive and I couldn’t get anywhere without depending on buses

Thank you! I think we will be moving near Front street.
I think it is getting more gentrified and am just hoping it's not too rough, as I may be moving there with my kids.

I lived on Askham Lane for 15 years (moved away about three years ago) and never had any bother. I would just have liked to be a bit closer to the city centre, relying on the number 1 bus to get home at night was always a bit of a lottery!

Lived in Acomb for years, quite near front street. There is a lovely green, with play equipment nearby, one or two good shops and a couple of nice independent pubs and a local library. Like anywhere, it's not without one or two areas which are not so nice, but I miss the area as a whole. We moved away a couple of years ago when downsizing.
