Repair Costs After Tenants Move Out

My husband had his own house before we got married, this has been rented out for some years and the tenants moved out today. We are now planning to sell both our houses and buy one together.

We know there will be a couple of small repairs needed and possibly some redecoration (things have been done as needed throughout the tenancy). My husband wondered if he still be able to offset these costs against his rental income even though the tenancy has finished. TIA if anyone can advise.

I don't think so. That wouldn't make sense.

But there is lots of information about deductions on the HMRC website.
