How bad is rising damp

Finally found a house I like, however there is an issue of rising damp on the wall. The wall in question would likely be removed to knock through the kitchen.
How much of an issue is it?

thanks

How soon would you intend to build the kitchen? If it's straight away, the issue causing the damp would be fixed at the time of the new build. Most rising damp is caused by faulty guttering/downpipes/outside level being too high etc. There's usually a straightforward reason that can be rectified.
