Stamp. Duty

Been debating with DM whether I will be classed as a FTB for the purpose of Stamp duty. I owned a house with an ex partner about 25 years ago, lived there for about two years, and have been in rented ever since. Now looking to buy a house but am I a FTB?

No you aren't

fourplusfour · 09/04/2022 00:34

Tbh that was my understanding too but DM is adamant that after so long the previous purchase is irrelevant

Your dm is wrong @1vandal2 is correct.

How do I know - because we are back buying a property, after 23 years of being boaters after previously selling our house.

No you àre not a ftb

@fourplusfour the LR forms require your NI number. It will be clear from that to the IR that you are not a FTB.

My Mother seems always to have an opinion on this sort of thing. She last bought a house in 1977. 😂

Tell her it's called a first time buyer, not a
last-bought-a-house-25-years-ago buyer

fourplusfour · 09/04/2022 10:26

@girlmom21 I think I did say to her something along the lines of the clue's in the name (but a little more tactfully)
