Skirting board installation

Posted previously about shoddy work from a joiner. They fixed the original job and installed skirting boards.

Can I how much you would expect to pay for a standard sized living room to have skirting installed? 450 for removal and installation about reasonable?

Secondly - is there anything wrong with this?

Cannot comment about the price, but that caulking on the last photo looks really messy, I wouldn't be happy with that.

Hi there OP. I’m no expert but have done up a couple of properties and that doesn’t look right to me at all. They haven’t made any diagonal cuts with a mitre saw to make the corners fit neatly and symmetrically. It looks like ends have been lobbed of and just stuck on. Have a Google at how a corner of a skirting board should look for comparison. Hope that’s of help to you.

I don't think mitring the inward corners necessarily matters, when it's all sanded/painted/filled you wouldn't notice anyway. Outer corners need to be mitred though. The thinng with skirting boards is walls & floors are never perfect all along & skirting often shrinks as the wood dries out once installed. Yours just needs a bit of careful filling & painting & it'll be fine.

I can't believe that has been done by a joiner. It is shocking. There should be gaps like that with any skirting boards and caulk if literally to finish it off, not fill huge gaps.
