Anyone know these areas well? They seem to offer most of what we are looking for as a family for now, but I am concerned about what the kids will do when they are old enough for a night out as they aren’t close to a big town…can anyone enlighten me?

Thank you!

I don’t know either place well, but I used to teach at a local FE college. Depending on what post-16 plans your DC have, they might have to travel to and from Exeter for college. Public transport links are expensive and infrequent, from what my students used to say. Not sure what age your DC are, but potentially something to bear in mind Smile

Exeter is pretty close and you can get there on the train. We used to go out drinking, a big gang of us and get a private hire mini bus. Really cheap by the time we have all chipped in our share

Hi. I know the area very well, please feel free to PM me. I am childfree though so wont be able to help with much/any kid related info!

I know the area well, Axminster has the advantage of the train station with links to Exeter and London. Axmouth is about 4 miles away but has Seaton and the coast within walking distance. I don't have children but do work with a large number of teens, they all seem to manage to amuse themselves in Seaton but there's no ice rink/bowling/cinema/chain restaurants so I'm not exactly sure how

I have no idea what stage of your decision making you're at, but perhaps consider Honiton/Sidmouth as the town/seaside town combo, Both closer to Exeter. Possibly a little more active. Honiton is on the same line as Axminster - one stop down. It has Sports Centre with swimming pool, Tesco/Aldi/Lidl/Co-op,2 Auction Rooms, many more shops, great parks - The Glen/Gissage, etc.

There’s a train in Axminster so they’ll just go to Exeter.
