Window advice please

I own a 1970s house and the windows in most rooms are big box windows. The windows are brown wood effect uPVC. A couple of the windows have blown but nothing that can't be fixed. The house needs a lot of work and replacing windows is very low on the priority list. We have a porch on the side of the kitchen with plastic roof which leaks and wood framed windows which are totally rotten. Obviously we need to fix this. The cheapest way would be to replace the plastic roof and put in uPVC windows. But I'm not sure if I'll regret not going for wood. Any advice?

Not quite the same but we had wooden windows in our house and changed them all for upvc double glazed ones. I did price up wooden double glazed windows but they would have cost three times as much and would have required ongoing maintenance- painting etc.
so glad we got plastic windows and not the wood. They've been in for ~15 years, still look like new and just need a wash. Our house was built in 1700 and they look fine.
If I was you id get the plastic option.
