Tiling bath wall

Hi all,

We’re currently getting our bathroom done and the plumbers initially said they would fit aqua boards on the wall around the bath and then tile but now they’re saying they can tile directly on to the concrete brick walls and aqua boards are not required because it’s a solid wall. My concern is if there’s any gaps in the sealing then it’ll leak to downstairs. Anyone had any experience with this and did you get boards fitting behind your bath?

Many thanks!

We have tile directly on our breeze block internal bathroom wall - behind the bath and we've never had any issues with leaks... The shower has aquaboard though because one of the walls is a stud wall.

You could ask them about using a tanking kit if they’re not going to use the boards.
