Hi everyone,

We’re trying to sort out the electrics and lighting in our new house and got an electrician to quote for some work. Does £1100 seem to expensive for the work listed below? We are based in sw London.

-Supply and install a black 10watt flood light with PIR sensor
-install a white downlight with warm white LED lamp in the porch providing the supply is accessible.
-Wire the 2 way switching in the hallway correctly.
-Convert 9 single sockets to doubles
-2 new double sockets
-Remove 3 wall lighting points
-move 3 pendant in rooms to a central position of the room.

Many thanks!

Not sure how helpful this will be, but we're having two new sockets, recentering of 5 room lights, removal of 3 pull cords, installation of 9 spotlights and sorting out the switch control of landing lights across 3 floors.

Getting quotes was an absolute nightmare for us and the only two that came through - one was for £1100 and the other was for £760 based on the time estimated. We went with the cheaper quote, however the switch control turned into a pig of a job and all in it will have cost £1100 going with the second person anyway.

Difficult to say as the work involved in some of those jobs will vary between different properties but on the whole it looks like a decent price. I can't imagine you'll do much better than that.
