Dear All, I moved into a flat ( when i booked the flat i saw sockets for internet and TV hence I assumed everything would work) and found that TV signal was not working and the TV signal reception is maintained for all the flats in the communal area.
can you kindly let me know whether as a tenant I should be repairing something in communal area? When I tired contacting property management team they requested the landlord to contact them

Firstly, you say the TV aerial in your flat is not working but then mention repairing the communal aerial.
Have you spoken to your neighbours to confirm that they have no signal either? If a communal aerial was broken all the occupants would have a problem and be raising it with the freeholder.
If it is the communal aerial then you should report this to your landlord and ask him to raise it with the freeholder/management company. You are not permitted to interfer or repair any communal item.

It could well be the socket in the flat is faulty it not connected. This will need to be checked by a professional. However, if it was not working when you moved in, was never specifically promised to be working then your landlord has no obligation to repair it. Of course, any decent landlord (IMO) would want to fix it if it is faulty.
All of this is on yhe basis that you're in England or Wales.

Communal aerial is building management responsibility. The socket is arguably landlords responsibility.

The managing agents won't take instruction from you as you are not the leaseholder. You need to report it to whoever you rent from.
