Could I please ask advice on this fireplace

Have a daughter who is going to crawl any day now (!) and want to remove the bit off the floor (hearth?!) before she gets going. The problem is there is no carpet underneath the hearth and we can't afford to redo the whole carpet. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Thank you very much!

I wouldn't bother doing anything. Do you use the fire? If so get a fire guard. If not just leave it.

Presumably you don't use the fire at the moment? I'd get a thick rug and cover the hearth with it until she's got the crawling stage out of the way. It might not look perfect, but she won't hurt herself and it'll look less messy than removing the hearth.

Pool noodles or black foam pipe lagging slit lengthways and cut at 45o angles to the corners and glued on.

You can get it off again later.

PeacefulPrune · 24/03/2022 21:48

Put a big rug over it.

We used pipe insulation the type that's black and split already, then just taped it along the edges and corners.
